English
The development and concept team consists of native English speakers, therefore it is only logical to offer English as the initial language of Virtual Sandtray.
Spanish
Spanish is the second language available in Virtual Sandtray. Early on in the development process one of our main tester was a native spanish speaker, so we wrote in the capability to have other languages.
Client Use
The aforementioned languages are for use by the therapist. Clients do not need to be able to read any of languages to utilized the sandtray portion of the application. Our kids were testing the application before they could read.
Support
English is the primary language for timely support. Other languages will take time for translation back and forth so that we may try to get one the help they need.
Other Languages
The inclusion or exclusion of other languages is not meant to offend anyone. It is not a conscious decision for exclusion, but merely a commitment to excellence issue to provide a quality product first and foremost.
If there is a documented need for other languages, we will need assistance of volunteers to help extend the application to other languages. The hard part of offering localization capabilities within the application coding environment has been done. Adding other languages in is just a matter of having the translations done. Therefore, if one is asking for Virtual Sandtray to be available in a language, you will be asked if you can help or know someone that can help.
Due to the programming environment used to develop the application supporting only left-to-right languages, the program will not be translated into any right-to-left languages for the foreseeable future.
